About Your Flight


Q: How long does a flight usually last?

A: Every flight is different, however an average flight is any where from 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours. We do our best to ensure a minimum 1 hour flight for our paying customers. Due to constantly changing weather conditions and landing sites a flight may be terminated earlier or take as long as 2 hours.


Q: What should I Wear?

A: The temperature in the air will not be much different that it is on the ground. We highly suggest you layer your clothing so that you can adjust if you are too warm or cold. On warm days a T-Shirt and light jacket will be fine, on colder mornings a sweat shirt and jacket may be suggested. We also recommend wearing long pants and tennis shoes. We all prefer to land in a grassy front yard, however the possibility of a less than ideal field is possible on landing, and could contain high brush, prickers, etc.


Q: Where do you fly / take off / land?

A: We generally fly in and around the Battle Creek, MI area. Take off location will depend on wind direction. We never know where we will land, but we make an educated guess based on wind speed and direction. Balloons can not control their direction like airplanes, we can however change altitude in an attempt to find a different wind direction.


Q: How long will the ride take?

A: From start to finish the ride can take any where from 2 to 4 hours. Many factors affect this including weather, landing sites, and distance we may travel. Please do your best to show up on time or early! We can not wait if you are late as weather can change quickly, and for evening flights we must be on the ground before sunset.


Q: Can I bring a friend or family member?

A: Absolutely!!! We encourage everyone to participate in the ballooning activities. We do however have limited space in our chase vehicle for equipment, crew members, and passengers. If there is room they are more than welcome to ride a long, however if there are multiple people or limited space they may be forced to drive their own vehicle and follow our chase crew.


Q: Are there any age or height requirements?

A: This is best handled on a case-by-case basis. Parents know their children better than we do and what they can handle. We generally prefer minors be able to see over the edge of the basket and be 11 years or older. All minor children must have a waiver signed by their legal guardian. We also encourage they ride with someone who is 18 years or older. Please contact us with any questions.


Q: I am scared of heights and/or have motion sickness?

A: Almost any balloon pilot will testify that in all their years of flying only a few people have been extremely scared during a flight. Most people find the experience calm and relaxing. In a balloon you are moving with the wind there is no turbulence. If someone feels the need to end the flight we will certainly accommodate them as soon as a landing site can be found.


Q: How high do you normally fly?

A: We generally find the most fun flying near tree tops to see wild life and say hello to the jealous people on the ground. We may go several thousand feet in the air to find different wind patterns to land, or change direction. For those who like height and are more adventurous we can accommodate you as well, in fact a favorite thing to do is called "Mile High Hugging" at 5,280 feet!!


Q: How safe is a balloon ride? Are you Licensed? Insured?

A: All balloon pilots are licensed be the FAA just like an airline pilot. We go through a very similar training and certification program just like them. All of our equipment is required to be inspected at a minimum of every year or 100 hours of flight time. We are fully insured against damage to passengers, equipment, and property, but we maintain high standards to never use it. As with any recreational activity there are risks, but our experience and training helps to minimize that.




Q: How do I purchase a Flight?

A: There are multiple ways to purchase a flight from us. There is an easy way to buy directly from our website. This allows you to use a credit card. Once payment is made we will send you a flight certificate via E-Mail or standard USPS. Once the ride is purchased you can contact us via E-Mail or Phone to schedule the date. Please note all dates are weather and schedule permitting! We CAN NOT guarantee any specific date or time.


Q: Can I purchase a certificate for someone else?

A: Of course!! We send out flight certificates constantly that can be given as a donation, gift, etc. We do our best to accommodate all your needs and can even customize a gift packet with shirts, pins, hats and other merchandise for additional fees. We do our best to accommodate all of our clients needs! We have even surprised people and showed up at their house for a flight!


Q: What if the flight is canceled due to weather conditions?

A: If a flight is canceled due to weather conditions we will be happy to work with you and re schedule. If you are from out of town or we are unable to reschedule your flight we will refund your full amount.


Q: What is your refund policy?

A: Generally we do not refund any flights that have been purchased in advance, unless those certificates have been canceled multiple times due to no fault of your own. All certificates purchased may be transferred to another individual if your schedule does not work out. We have multiple solutions to accommodate your needs, please contact us for a resolution.


Q: What if I need to reschedule my flight?

A: We would be happy to work this out with you, as we understand life happens. We do however ask that you provide at least 48 hours notice or you may forfeit your ride. We make our best attempt to fill our basket and would hate to turn away someone else looking for a flight.
